Buildings are Closed - but the Church is Still Open!

OUR BUILDINGS ARE CLOSED BUT THE CHURCH IS STILL OPEN

Southampton Christian Network is made up of churches across our city serving the city.

The Coronavirus has caused us to cancel our church services, but we are not closing down!  The church in Southampton is still up and running.

The Bishop of Southampton, Debbie Sellin said, “The church is made up of people of hope.” Quoting Barack Obama she said, “Hope is not blind optimism. It is not ignoring the enormity of the task ahead…..Hope is the belief that destiny will not be written for us, but by us, by men and women who are not content to settle for the world as it is, but who have the courage to remake the world as it should be.”

As the Christian community in Southampton we believe that we can hold on to the hope that is at the heart of the Christian faith. This hope assures us that God loves his creation and will help us through this crisis.

In this time of anxiety and fear Southampton Christian Network is committed to:-

- Offer support to health professionals and care workers through gift packages.
- Looking out for the poor and needy in our communities.
- Supporting Basics Bank with finance and food provisions.
- Praying for the health and healing of our citizens and nation.
- Supporting the vulnerable.

Monsignor Vincent Harvey said,  “We need to look out for our families, for each other, and those beyond our families and faith community.  Each one of us needs to keep our eyes, ears and hearts open in order to respond to the needs we encounter.  Our motto for going forward is ‘Faith not Fear.’”

Rev. Paul Finn, chair of Southampton Christian Network said, “At the heart of the Christian faith is love and compassion. At this time, it is vital that we love our neighbour as we love ourselves and do good in every way than we can.”
