Love Southampton - driver Request

Dear friends,

As part of the city's response to the second national lockdown, Southampton City Mission and Love Southampton are acting in partnership with multiple food aid projects to support the needs of the city. As a network we have given away over £150k worth of food to hungry families and individuals, delivering food to 690 self-isolating households, and at the height of the first lockdown we provided food drops 7 days a week to people housed in hotels, hostels and B & B’s who would otherwise be sleeping rough

One key need as we look to continue this work during the second lockdown is to establish a pool of volunteer delivery drivers. We would benefit from more drivers especially in the daytime.

These volunteer drivers would be delivering food parcels to those in need from three food hubs:

Southampton City Mission’s Basics Bank in the West,
Saint Mary’s Church’s Love Your Neighbour for Central, and
Above Bar Church’s Big Difference for the East of the city.

We are wondering if you would be willing to share this form with your volunteers and staff and encourage them to sign up. Having one central pool of volunteer drivers will enable us to more effectively meet the needs of the city and particularly those who are shielding. Love Southampton will be coordinating the drivers collecting from the hubs on behalf of these projects.

If you are aware of people in need of food who aren’t able to access one of the Basics Banks, you can request help via this form.

I look forward to hearing from you, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Many thanks,
The Love Southampton Team
